London, Milan, New York, Barcelona… All main wedding collections of the new seasons were presented over nearly a month on bridal fashion catwalks of these cities.
What are the main trends in the season of 2020?
The first and obvious trend is the voluminosity of the Renaissance! Dresses of this stage embrace physicality and volume, with their wide symmetrical tales and the harmony and proportionality of the bodice and skirt of the dress; in their combination, the balance of human body parts must be observed.
The volume in the new season is mostly presented in sleeves and shoulders. The designers accentuate airiness and lightness of fabrics and pronounced tenderness of the image.

The second obvious favorite of the season is the skirt. While sleeves and their various interpretations were in the spotlight in previous seasons, today most designers are calling our attention to the skirt. Multiple variations in fabrics, goffers, pin-tucks, tiers and cuts can be seen here.

Another obvious trend of the season are skirt cuts. The height of the cut here depends on the wish of the girl. High cuts are presented in almost every collection, which makes this detail immensely popular.

Jackets and trousers still remain trendy. These items of wedding clothes are presented in collections of most designers every year; if earlier collections were filled with leggings and breeches, today the designers are offering wide, classic and bell-bottomed trousers. Jackets are also presented in elongated or slightly shortened “Chanel style”.

Feathers are still found in the collections of the new season, but in much smaller numbers. However, the famous designer ZUHAIR MURAD uses this element of décor fairly often in his 2020 collection; on the Barcelona catwalk, CARLA RUIZ presented almost the entire collection with this element.

“Angel wing” sleeves were mostly presented on European catwalks, while in New York this detail was virtually absent.

Asymmetry is another significant trend of 2020, which is manifested in bright and multi-faceted images this year. Vera Wang presented her entire new wedding collection in this style, supplementing every dress model with a magnificent flower.

In general, the romantic style still remains popular. Tender shades of pink, peach and blue and the floral theme still evoke interest in designers.

It should also be noted that most wedding dresses for the new seasons were presented in the minimalistic styles. More and more designers are showing a preference for the fabric, its lightness, laconism, quality and harmony. Of course, this does not indicate that laces are not popular anymore. There is no doubt that lace is always popular; however, the style of a modern bride changes significantly under the effect of modern fashion and world trends in general.
